The following pieces were created between 2014 and 2016. This body of work is a series of paintings created from printmaking and painting on cotton, which was then collaged and attached to boards and painted with encaustic wax, oil paint, pastel and other media. I love the surprise and unpredictability of printmaking, and the luminosity and depth of encaustic. “Up,” which was the title of one of my solo exhibitions at the Telluride Gallery of Fine Art, was a reflection of the joy and gratification I feel while making the work—art making is one of the most uplifting things I do. I love it and I hope these paintings convey that sense of joy.
